Philip set to stay in hospital for several days after hip op
THE Duke of Edinburgh stayed in hospital yesterday while he recovers from a hip replacement.
The Queen remained at Windsor Castle where she has been spending her Easter.
Prince Philip, 96, will be anxious to be on his feet in time to see grandson Prince Harry marry Meghan Markle on May 19. Buckingham Palace would not give an update on the Duke’s condition, however a statement issued after his operation on Wednesday said he was “in good spirits”. Philip is likely to remain at the King Edward VII hospital in Marylebone, Central London, for a few days. Prince Harry has become patron of this summer’s Walk Of America expedition organised by forces charity Walking With The Wounded.
THE Prince of Wales has pooh-poohed the idea that he takes his own toilet seat with him when he goes abroad.
Asked the question in a radio interview, Charles retorted: “My own what?” He then added: “Don’t believe all that crap.”
The Prince and the Duchess of Cornwall are in Australia, and yesterday visited the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Queensland, where they met Games mascot Borobi. An interviewer asked Charles about the loo rumour after it appeared in a recent biography.
The Prince’s communications director Julian Payne tweeted: “The Prince and the Duchess’s tour of Australia begins: 30 engagements, 7 days, 1 Commonwealth Games, 0 personal loo seats.”
