‘First lady’ of Treasury has Scot a lot of nerve
ANTHONY Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs, Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York and Jeremy Irons in the Lion King... America adores a British villain. But now they have a new one they all love to hate. Louise Linton, Edinburgh-born wife of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, has become the Cruella de Vil of the Trump administration. She started off tagging her designer clothes with a government jet as a backdrop before posing with sheets of money like a cartoon baddie. This week, I learn Mnuchin’s colleagues are incensed by her antics. Apparently, she thinks nothing of walking into his office demanding “Where’s my hubsies?” as he chats to the world’s finance chiefs. Talk about draining the swamp, Donny. Looks likes you’re restocking it to me.
