Feeling flush... Meghan’s dad buys himself a new throne

- EXCLUSIVE BY CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN US Editor in Rosarito, Mexico

MEGHAN Markle’s dad walks the aisles of a DIY store as Prince Harry’s future father-in-law shops for a new “throne”.

Thomas Markle has been busy making his Mexican home fit for a princess.

The 72-year- old was spotted buying a toilet at The Home Depot – North America’s B&Q – for his seafront house on the outskirts of Rosarito.

And he is flush with cash after getting the loo for a knockdown 1,125 pesos – £43.32 – after it was reduced by £5.

A friend of Mr Markle’s said: “Even though Tom doesn’t own his place, he treats it like his own palace.”

Mr Markle’s years as a lighting director in Hollywood left him skilled at DIY.

The pal added: “There is not a lot he cannot turn his hand to. He potters around all day tinkering. His latest project was renovating the bathroom.”

He loaded the loo into the back of his old Ford Escape before returning home.

It comes after claims that Prince Charles takes his own toilet seat with him when he goes on royal tours. He rubbished the story, from a new book, saying: “Oh, don’t believe all that crap.”

Mr Markle retired to Mexico after being made bankrupt. He has been spending time with close friend Lori Davis, 38, and often eats lunch and dinner with her.

Mum-of-one Lori later told the Mirror the reports that Mr Markle would be too ill to travel to the wedding at Windsor Castle next month were overblown.

She said: “Tom is fine. He does walk with a slight hobble but nothing that would stop him travelling to the UK or attending the wedding.”
