Young feel most alone
YOUNG people are lonelier than the elderly, despite social media, says a study.
It found more than 20% of 16-24-year-olds felt isolated compared with 10% of people aged 65-74.
The Office for National Statistics study said those regularly meeting family and friends, and with strong community links, are less likely to feel alone.
The Community Life Survey report said: “Those 75 or over are 63 times less likely to report loneliness than those aged 16 to 24.”
