SHOOT FOR MOON, TOON

- BY SIMON BIRD

RAFA BENITEZ says the prospect of rebuilding Newcastle excites him. In a huge hint that his future will lie on Tyneside next season, Benitez said he has a job with “great potential to build something”. The Spaniard (above) will confirm his intentions after talks with owner Mike Ashley once Toon have secured their top-flight status. But he said yesterday: “The timing is crucial when you go to a club to build something. If the team is not winning it is easier to go there and change things. If you are winning it is very difficult, and if you have won already it is very difficult too. “What you have here at Newcastle is potential; the fans, the stadium, the city behind us. We have great potential. If we do the right things, we have to look upwards.”
