ROBBO CALLS FOR A CHASE TO THE MAX

-

IT may be the season for dashing into the dressing room to chase up your promotion rivals’ results, but Preston striker Callum Robinson insists his side don’t have that luxury yet.

Three points behind Middlesbrough and Millwall with three games remaining, North End’s hopes of reaching the playoffs rest not just on their rivals dropping points against each other, but on them collecting maximum points against Norwich, Sheffield United and Burton.

They managed that at Loftus Road with Robinson (above) converting a Darnell Fisher cross before turning home Alan Browne’s header.

Earlier, Matt Smith had given Rangers the lead, diverting a Ryan Manning cross past keeper Declan Rudd, who pulled off a number of second-half saves.

Robinson said: “We’re really happy with the result, but we need to get the three points in every game at this stage.

“If we don’t, then there’s no point in checking the results.”

Robinson revealed that a halftime tirade from manager Alex Neil inspired them.

He added: “The boss said we were lucky to be drawing at halftime. He told us how we needed to pick it up – and I thought we did.”

Now QPR face a London derby at Brentford and boss Ian Holloway said: “Today was disappointing, but let’s see if we can put Brentford under pressure.

“We’ll be trying everything to stop the rot that we’ve got against them at the moment.”
