JT to take on Blues if Villa go up

- BY JAMES NURSEY

JOHN TERRY is ready to do a U-turn and play against Chelsea in the Premier League.

The former Blues captain has been such a hit at Aston Villa in the Championship that he wants to keep playing for them if they are promoted.

The 37-year-old dropped out of the top flight last summer to sign for Villa on a 12-month contract, saying he would not want to play against Chelsea after his 22 years at Stamford Bridge.

But Villa could go up in the play-offs and that could see Terry taking on his former club.

“I still have the appetite and hunger,” he said. “My aim at the start of the season was to get us up.

“One last push and, hopefully, we can go out with a bang and make it an easy decision at the end.

“Chelsea will always be my club, but since I have been at Aston Villa, I have given my all and the fans have been superb to me.

“It has been a good combination and I feel it has worked well for both.”

The defender, who is on a £2million promotion bonus, is keen to keep playing for as long as possible after making 31 starts for Steve Bruce’s side this term.
