- BY MATT STRUDWICK

A SEAPLANE crash that killed a British family in Canada was caused by a low-altitude turn that led to the light aircraft stalling, an inquest has heard.

Richard Hewitt, 50, wife Fiona, 52, daughter Felicity, 17, and son Harry, 14 died instantly when the aircraft hit mountains during a sightseeing trip in Quebec.

Pilot Romain Desrosiers and French passenger Emilie Delaitre, 28, also died in the 2015 tragedy.

The inquest into the Hewitts’ deaths, in their home town of Milton Keynes, Bucks heard there were similar incidents dating back as far as 1998.

Canadian officials want all aircraft to be fitted with a stall warning system.

Senior coroner Tom Osborne recorded a verdict of accidental death.
