BRONZE ENDS CITY’S DREAM OF EURO GOLD
Women’s Champions League semi-final 2nd leg: Lyon win 1-0 on aggregate
LUCY BRONZE returned to haunt her former club as Manchester City suffered Women’s Champions League misery.
The former City star’s goal gave Lyon a 1-0 win on the day and on aggregate as they made the final for a record seventh time. England right-back Bronze scored after 17 minutes with a sublime volley from Amel Majri’s cross.
City will now hope to clinch a domestic league, sitting second with a game in hand.
Captain Steph Houghton said: “Over two legs, we gave everything. Again, defensively, we were superb – we just couldn’t manage to create a moment like they did.
“The league is in our hands and we have to make sure we recover as quickly as we can.”
