Nilsen family clear to plan killer’s burial
SERIAL killer Dennis Nilsen’s body has been released to his family for a funeral.
The fiend, who killed up to 15 men, died aged 72 a week ago after serving 34 years of a life sentence.
Nilsen was taken to hospital from Full Sutton Prison, East Yorks, on May 10 with stomach pains, an inquest at Hull coroner’s court heard yesterday.
A ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm was fixed but he died from surgery complications.
Coroner Paul Marks said: “I’m happy for Dennis Nilsen’s body to be returned to his next of kin.”
He adjourned the fiveminute hearing, saying a date for the full inquest was yet to be set.
The Prison Service said there will be an independent investigation.
