Still no home for Grenfell victims
If there’s one issue that defines how incompetent this Conservative government is, it’s Grenfell.
The survivors were promised by the Tories they’d be given permanent homes within a year. Eleven months on, two-thirds are still living in hotels and emergency accommodation.
The Tories also commissioned a building safety review that this week concluded combustible cladding could still be used on high-rise blocks. They then panicked and said they’d do a consultation on a possible ban.
Sajid Javid presided over this mess when he was Communities and Housing Minister. Now he’s running the Home Office!
Don’t consult. If cladding is at risk of catching fire, just bloody ban it.
