Shareholde­rs turned against fatcat pay at Lloyds Banking Group yesterday with a fifth of votes at the AGM going against the directors’ remunerati­on report. Boss Antonio Horta Osorio took home £6.42million last year.

TalkTalk has reported a £73m pre-tax loss for 2017 after spending £119m on a turnaround plan. The telecoms firm also aims to sell its business-to-business arm to Daisy Group for £175m. TalkTalk’s shares rose on rumours the firm is being prepared for a sale.

Pub giant Young’s said fashionabl­e gins and craft beers helped profits climb 1.6% to £37.6m with a sales rise of 4.2%. Boss Patrick Dardis said: “I am a firm believer that the traditiona­l British pub will never go out of fashion.”
