GRAN SLAM FOR MARCO

-

ARGENTINE journeyman Marco Trungelliti got his 88-year-old grandma out of the shower to travel 640 miles before his Paris victory.

The world No.190 (right), who lost in qualifying last Friday, drove from Barcelona to Roland Garros to arrive late on Sunday to secure a last-minute spot as a lucky loser. And the 28-year-old hit 68 winners as he beat former world No.17 Bernard Tomic 6-4 5-7 6-4 6-4 to bank at least £69,000.

Trungelliti said: “My grandma was in the shower when I told her: ‘OK, we go to Paris, we gotta go’. We took 30 minutes to pack all the bags, and then off we went.”
