Train firm in Poundland jibe apology
THAMESLINK trains has apologised to Poundland after comparing its shoddy service to the budget shop.
A fed-up passenger posted a picture of a departure board showing a string of cancellations.
The firm said its service was “less Ferrero Rocher and more Poundland cooking chocolate”.
But the store’s retail director Austin Cooke threatened to sue Govia Thameslink Railway for using its name “to describe poor service”.
He defended its “great customer service” and added sarcastically: “But if we ever fall short, perhaps we’ll describe ourselves as a bit Thameslink.”
Embarrassed train firm staff apologised and deleted the tweet.
