Spade suicide after splitting with husband
FASHION designer Kate Spade was depressed days before hanging herself after her husband asked for a divorce, reports claim.
The 55-year-old tycoon, loved by young royals, took her own life after Andrew Spade moved out of their Manhattan home.
It is claimed she did not want their 24-year marriage to end.
Spade left a suicide note to her 13-year-old only daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade, US reports said.
Spade’s sister, Reta Saffo, said Kate had suffered from depression for several years and had refused to get help. “I will say this was not unexpected by me,” Saffo said.
But Spade’s family later attacked her “unsubstantiated comments”, it was claimed in the US media.
