Vardy drops his baccy habit... but insists Red Bull still gives him wings

JAMIE VARDY drinks a can of Red Bull for breakfast – with Gareth Southgate’s full blessing.

England striker Vardy, 31, has given up another one of his vices – snus – following a public backlash after it was revealed he used the chewing tobacco.

But Leicester star Vardy, who drinks up to three cans of the energy drink before games, says Red Bull helps get him pumped up.

Vardy, set to start against Costa Rica, said: “Yeah, Gareth is fine. He knows me well. He sees me at breakfast every morning.

“I had to kick it (snus) because you lot made a big deal about it, so I don’t think I’ll be getting pictured with them again. The Red Bulls are still there. But I can’t do the no-sugar one – it doesn’t taste the same.

“I decided myself. I thought I don’t need the hassle and we’re here to concentrate on England.” Vardy insists there is a better feeling in the England camp this time than two years ago before Euro 2016.

Vardy added: “I think this one’s been a lot different. With the Euros, we met up virtually as soon as the season ended and we were in (camp) up until we flew out.

“The gaffer this time gave us a week off to forget about the Premier League season, come back in fresh and we’ve been managing to have a day off after every mini-camp.

“People are still on their toes when it comes to football, but it’s still nice to come home and relax for that day.”
