Brit & lover die in ‘selfie plunge’

-

A BRITISH woman and her Australian boyfriend died after plunging 100ft off a sea wall in Portugal after they posed for a selfie, according to reports.

The bodies of Louise Benson, 37, and Michael Kearns, 33, were found at Pescadores Beach in Ericeira by a fisherman on Tuesday at 6am. The pair, of Perth, Australia, who were on a five-month trip, died at the scene.

A mobile phone was found on the wall at the popular surfing spot.

Rui Pereira da Terra, head of the rescue service in nearby Cascais, said: “It seems they dropped their phone and fell while leaning to retrieve it.”

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is “providing support” to Louise’s family, who are from Bristol.

In 2014 two Polish tourists fell to their deaths nearby posing for a selfie.
