TOBY PREDICTS GOALS GALORE FROM HARRY

- FROM DAVID McDONNELL in Moscow

HARRY KANE has been backed to break his major tournament goal duck in Russia – by Tottenham team-mate Toby Alderweireld.

England skipper Kane has drawn a blank in seven appearances at international tournaments – at Euro 2016 and the Under-21 European Championship in 2015.

Alderweireld is convinced Kane is set to end that barren run, but has vowed to shut him out when Belgium face the Three Lions on June 28.

“He’ll score everywhere, he’s one of the best strikers in the world,” said Alderweireld.

“I only hope – and I think – he will not score against us. We’ll do our best.

“He’s an unbelievable striker and I’m confident he will score whenever he wants.

“I don’t think the England captaincy will be pressure for him, it will only give him more confidence to achieve even more and perform the way he wants.”

Alderweireld’s club future remains unclear, with Manchester United leading the chase for the defender, who has just two years left on his current Spurs deal. But Alderweireld insisted his future was not playing on his mind, ahead of Belgium’s World Cup opener against Panama, in Sochi on Monday.

“I have no problem with that because I’m 100 per cent focused on Belgium,” said the 29-year-old, who wants to leave Spurs for a more lucrative deal elsewhere.

“It’s a dream come true to play for Belgium at a World Cup, so I’m focused on the World Cup, that’s all. There’s nothing else on my mind.”

Alderweireld (with Kane, above) also warned England and other nations in Russia that Eden Hazard is at his best and said opponents will be “frightened” by the Chelsea forward.

“I’ve never seen Eden as good as I have now,” he added. “Hopefully, he can keep that form for a while.

“The opponents are frightened by him and, with his actions, he also makes a lot possible for his team-mates.

“Can I can compare Eden with someone at Tottenham? No, because he has his specific style of playing, but a player like Harry also has many qualities.”
