I know the feeling, Bud

-

EGYPT goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy refused his man-of-the-match award after the game against Uruguay on religious grounds, because it was sponsored by Budweiser. I know where El-Shenawy (left) is coming from.

If anyone gives me a bottle of that gassy concoction, I usually say, “Jesus Christ, no”, and refuse it too.

TONY ADAMS says it’s a shame for England that Glenn Hoddle isn’t in the dug-out with Gareth Southgate during this World Cup, advising and passing on his experience. And I agree. To have Hoddle anywhere other than co-commentating on ITV (or coma-commentating as he always makes it) would have been a great boost to the nation. THE best unseen sight of the World Cup so far must have been Roy Hodgson’s joyous face when Iceland drew 1-1 with Argentina. I hope he sent Lionel Messi a text saying, “Chin up, pal, Iceland can frustrate all football geniuses.”
