RLC set to quit Chelsea
RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK is ready for his first World Cup start – but admits he may have to quit Chelsea.
He is considering his future at the Blues after his season-long loan spell at Crystal Palace helped push him into the England squad this summer.
The midfielder, 22, is set to come in for Dele Alli who has suffered a thigh injury and is likely to miss the Panama clash on Sunday.
And he does not want to go back to Chelsea and sit on the bench – alerting both Palace and West Ham.
He said: “I want to play as much as I can next term.
“Even this past season just gone I didn’t play as much as I would have liked to because of the injuries and stuff. So I still need a proper season of playing wherever it is.
“I’m confident in my ability that I can do well wherever it is.
“Chelsea is a big club and there is pressure on managers to win trophies. So I understand they might not be willing to take a chance on someone.
“But I’m not thinking about whether I’m going to play at Chelsea right now. I’m just focused on the World Cup.”
