MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace and grocer Chris Bavin are back with this surprisingly emotional series that sees them help families save cash by eating better and shopping smarter.

The spending habits of the first family, the Atkinsons from Blackpool, are shocking, with Gregg saying: “It’s the biggest spend we’ve ever seen.”

Dad John drinks three or four litres of Coca-Cola a day and between him, his wife Michelle and their three sons, Gary, 22, Liam, 19, and Kyle, seven, they buy around 17 takeaways a week.

That’s in addition to a massive supermarket shop full of food that is mostly left in the fridge to rot.

Gregg and Chris reveal that the family is spending more than £400 a week on food, causing John to get tearful. And who can blame him?

They get to work, with brands switched, takeaways banned and the older boys taught how to cook.

“Where are my lollies?” asks little Kyle. “Raspberries?” asks Michelle.

Tough times!
