Tea with ER
DONALD Trump finally got to meet the Queen yesterday – but the US President even managed to make a mess of that.
Her Majesty had to gesture several times for Mr Trump to move closer as they inspected a guard of honour at Windsor Castle.
Then he stopped dead in front of the Queen, forcing the embarrassed 5ft 4in royal to navigate round the burly 6ft 3in president.
Earlier, the 92-year-old Queen had stood at attention for 12 minutes in 26C heat before Mr Trump and wife Melania arrived – on time – for afternoon tea in the castle’s Oak Room.
She had been charmed over a cuppa there with President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle in 2016.
Hundreds of protesters with antiTrump banners lined the streets outside. Hilbre Watts, 61, said: “I have a great deal of sympathy for the Queen as she’s been put in an impossible situation.”
Londoner Jane Ashley, 49, said: “The poor Queen is 92 and does not need to be having tea with a racist, misogynist egomaniac.”
