Murder cops hold ‘parents’ of tragic woods baby Pearl
Caravan searched in probe
POLICE have arrested a man and woman on suspicion of murdering a newborn who was found dead in woodland.
The pair are believed to be the baby girl’s parents.
Both were also held on suspicion of concealing a birth and preventing a lawful burial.
The body of the baby – named Pearl by detectives – was found by a dog walker in Heywood, Gtr Manchester, in April.
The man, 48, and the woman, 33, both remain in custody for questioning. Police have not revealed where the arrests were made. Forensic officers yesterday searched an industrial estate close to where Pearl’s body was found. They focused on a caravan, which was later towed away. Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers have been following extensive enquiries, including DNA analysis, to find out exactly what happened to Pearl.”
