Charlie’s an ee-aw-mous hit in therapy session at hospice
A RETIRED seaside donkey provided animal magic on a visit to a hospice.
Charlie, 10, used to give children rides on the beach but has now taken part in “assistive therapy” at the care centre.
Charlie met staff, carers and patients at St Ann’s Hospice in Cheadle, Cheshire where patient Genevieve Grey, 80, said: “I’d want him to live with me.” Adele Crompton of The Donkey Sanctuary, where Charlie – who used to work in Scarborough, now lives – said: “There’s something pure about seeing an animal in front of you. It takes people back to their childhood.”
The visit was arranged by Manchester Health and Care Commissioning. St Ann’s chief executive Eamonn O’Neal said: “Everyone loves a donkey. It was a pleasure to welcome Charlie and Adele.”
