MUM’S THE WORD FOR ELLIS

-

IPSWICH new boy Ellis Harrison knows who to thank for a career that is firmly on the up.

The Welsh former non-league striker became a Tractor Boy last month when new Ipswich boss Paul Hurst (right) signed him from Bristol Rovers in a £750,000 deal.

Harrison, 24, said: “None of what I have achieved would have been possible without my mother, Ruth.

“She is my biggest fan and my No.1 critic – and she always tells it like it is.” Harrison (right) lines up for his Championship debut against Blackburn today having scored in last week’s pre-season clash with West Ham. He said: “My mum was back in Wales watching it live via Facebook and she was full of it when I rang her afterwards.” She will be hard at work in Newport while he is facing Rovers, but Harrison added: “She’s trying to sort her work rota so she can get time off to travel to Ipswich for a game as soon as possible.” WEST BROM star James Morrison says Darren Moore has made him feel like a youngster again. Morrison is back in action after missing most of last season with an Achilles injury. And the Scotland midfielder, 32, says he must prove himself all over again after being unable to help the Baggies stay in the Premier League after an eightyear stint.

“I feel I’ve got a point to prove,” said Morrison, who signed a new one-year deal this week.

“I feel like I’m starting out again really, going back 10 or 11 years ago.”

Having signed up for an 11th season at The Hawthorns, Morrison cited Moore as a major influence.

“Darren’s been a big part, he knows what it takes and he knows what I can do.”
