Our picture shows a young Simon Le Bon and Roger Taylor of new wave band Duran Duran. Formed in Birmingham in 1978, the group opened for Breaking Glass singer Hazel O’Connor before their third single Girls on Film shot to number five in the UK charts. Their good looks guaranteed them pin-up status, with bassist John Taylor joking they were “...like a box of Quality Street - everyone is someone’s favourite.”
