I need novel ideas to promote my art
Dear BIZ
I have a children’s book shop, Rogan’s Books, where we bring magical stories to youngsters with activities and events.
We hosted the renowned author Philip Pullman who did book readings and a book signing earlier this summer.
Last year I bought a children’s book illustrator gallery that I have incorporated into the book shop in Bedford. I have an incredible range of art with prices from £150 to £20,000 for more serious collectors.
I’m trying to raise more awareness of the artwork and would appreciate any advice you may have.

As well as book readings and signings you need to create interest in the illustrations, with events to highlight what you have available.
Start local and then you can branch out to other areas and nationally. Try linking up with art galleries and auction houses that specialise in children’s illustrations, and offer illustrations as part of their exhibitions, in return for promotion of your shop.
Also, we have heard about READ ALL ABOUT IT Rachel has art and books Explore Bedford, a new service that is launching in September.
The people behind it are successful community entrepreneurs who run a local newspaper, The Bedford Clanger.
They already put on community events such as Bedpop and now want to take that further and put Bedford firmly on the map as a vibrant visitor destination.
The service will support and promote businesses in Bedford with networking events.
Find out about joining at explorebedford.co.uk as it could be a way to help raise awareness of your shop locally and further afield.
Good luck.
