Guardiola: FA don’t dig Doug

-

PEP GUARDIOLA blasted the FA after Brazilian wonderkid Douglas Luiz was denied a work permit.

The Manchester City manager is furious at the FA for advising the Home Office to reject an application for the player.

Luiz, 20, signed for £10.7million a year ago from Vasco da Gama, and loaned out to Spanish club Girona last season, has yet to win a senior Brazil cap, but City asked the Home Office for a permit due to his “outstanding talent”.

And that view was backed by Brazil boss Tite, who sent a video recommendation to the FA panel. But the FA refused to give their approval to the Home Office, who rejected City’s application for the midfielder.

Guardiola said: “It’s difficult to understand. They don’t know him, they haven’t seen him in one training session or game.

“Me and Tite know more about his ability. He could have played, he’s shown many good things.

“Anyone in the world should be able to work where he wants.”
