Beach walker in agony after adder attack
A TOURIST was in agony after being bitten by an adder on a Cornish beach.
Stephen Hague felt the 20in female snake slither over his feet and looked down to see it sink its fangs into his big toe.
As his foot ballooned, he staggered to the nearest road and flagged a taxi at Constantine Bay, Padstow.
The 47-year-old’s leg swelled so badly doctors considered a last-resort anti-venom injection.
Stephen, of Manchester, said: “I screamed like I didn’t think possible.
“It was the most pain I’ve ever experienced.
“The doctors gave me heavy-duty painkillers and codeine and I was still screaming like a baby.”
Adder bites are rare and no one has died from one for more than two decades.
