Trolley sneak is jailed after 198 crimes
A THIEF with 198 offences on his record was jailed after his latest crime spree.
Thomas Mellor, 38, repeatedly targeted stores to steal expensive spirits.
He piled bottles of whisky, gin and vodka in a trolley hidden under cheap snacks and bags of crisps.
Mellor would sneak the trolley out without paying when he thought it safe.
Between November and April he stole booze worth £6,250, a court heard.
Mellor, of Coleshill, Warwicks, was jailed for 15 months after admitting 15 charges of theft.
Judge Peter Cooke told him at Warwick crown court: “Eighty-seven times you have appeared before courts and been convicted of offences, 198 in total.
“You are just a thorough pest to any store owner.”
