RULER IS MADE TO MEASURE

- BY DAVE MITCHELL

THERE are none of our horses to follow running today but we are off to Pontefract for two qualifiers tomorrow.

First up is the Jedd O’Keeffe-trained DESERT RULER in the mile-and-a-half handicap.

Having begun the season successfully over tomorrow’s trip, the fiveyear-old dropped down to a mile and a quarter at Newcastle last time where he hit trouble in running with Jane Elliott in the saddle.

He’s going to be better off over this extra two furlongs on a stiffer track and is reunited with Jack Garritty, under whom he put up a career-best effort from a higher handicap mark at Chester in May.

TIRANIA has bagged a decent draw in the Listed fillies’ sprint in which she too will be suited by the track.

Her trainer William Haggas (above) is running her here despite not being noticeably well treated on official ratings, so he clearly expects improvement.
