Hard-Brexit meds scare ‘not true’ says Raab
BREXIT Secretary Dominic Raab has dismissed concerns about medicine shortfalls under a no-deal Brexit as “hair-raising scare stories” which are “very far from the truth”.
NHS chiefs have warned hospitals face running out of drugs if the UK crashes out of the EU without a deal. But Mr Raab played down the claims and insisted the UK was still aiming to secure a Brexit deal
He added it was “responsible” for Government to prepare for all possible outcomes. But NHS Providers chief Chris Hopson said in the event of a no deal or hard Brexit “public health and disease control co-ordination could suffer” – and on the first day “the entire supply chain of pharmaceuticals could be aversely affected”.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said: “There has to be an agreement to ensure there is a permanent supply of medicines.”
