Tweet ban over winner blunder

GREAT British Bake Off judge Prue Leith has vowed to stay off Twitter during this year’s series to avoid giving away any more massive secrets.

A tweet she sent 11 hours before last year’s final was shown revealed who the winner was.

Launching the new series yesterday, she said bosses had not told her about a sketch in which hosts Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding make fun of her gaffe.

Prue said: “Will everyone ever stop making jokes about that? I dared not mention it for a whole year and they go and use it – everyone will start talking about it again.”

The cook, 78, now has someone else to manage her Twitter account.

An insider at the Channel 4 baking show said: “She won’t be posting herself until the series is well and truly over. One thing is certain, she won’t be making the same mistake twice.” Prue sent her tweet while on holiday in Bhutan after she became confused by time zones. Sandi and Noel’s Back to the Future sketch will be shown on Tuesday during the first episode of the new series.
