‘AYEW ON A WIND-UP’

7.45pm ROY HODGSON has slammed Swansea for insisting on playing their EFL Cup tie tonight while refusing to allow Jordan Ayew to take the field.

Crystal Palace travelled to Watford on Sunday lunchtime for a live Premier League match.

And the Eagles boss will now look to make big changes – including starting debuts for keeper Vicente Guaita, Cheikh Kouyate and Max Meyer – for the long trip to South Wales. But Ghana striker Ayew, who joined Palace on a season-long loan after top-scoring for the Swans last year, has been blocked from his debut. Hodgson (left) said: “Swansea have kindly insisted on the game being played on Tuesday despite us playing on Sunday. “They have also insisted we can’t play a player [Ayew] that we have paid money to loan.”
