Real look to make summer move for Sterling

- BY JOHN CROSS

REAL MADRID have reignited their interest in England star Raheem Sterling.

The Spanish giants have Sterling (above) on their transfer wish list for 2019.

They plan to make a huge splash in the transfer market next summer and will watch the 23-year-old at Wembley next month when England play Spain.

They will continue to monitor him for the rest of the season, with Sterling now into the final two years of his contract at Manchester City, and no sign of a breakthrough in negotiations.

That would leave City with a

big dilemma next year if they have not reached agreement, with the stand-off certain to have alerted Real.

Sterling was in England’s first XI at the World Cup, and Real were keen on him even before he moved to the Etihad in 2015.

The Spanish giants are not planning to make a bid before the European window shuts on Friday. But new boss Julen Lopetegui (left) will be under pressure to sign big names next year. Chelsea star Eden Hazard is another on Real’s wish list – he is also into the final two years of his contract.
