Lauren: Strictly between us.. I’m a salsa teacher
She admits to being in step
STRICTLY’S Lauren Steadman has an advantage when it comes to the salsa – because she teaches it.
The Paralympic silver medallist got hooked on it as an escape from training.
In May 2017 she revealed she had been dancing salsa for around four years.
And she added: “I teach it now as well. I got into it because my psychologist said that sport is no longer your hobby it’s your career, so you need something outside of that to enjoy. I gave it a try and the rest is history!”
Lauren, who was born missing her lower right arm,
I like to dance salsa. I’ve done it for four years and I teach now as well LAUREN STEADMAN ON HER PREVIOUS SALSA EXPERIENCE
is also a double World Champion Paratriathlete and a sixtime European Champion.
She is not the first on Strictly to know some dance steps before the show. In 2017, Aston Merrygold, Alexandra Burke and Mollie King were all experienced in some way. A spokesman for Lauren said: “She has salsa danced socially for several years and on occasion, due to shortages of teachers, she has helped beginners.
“She’s not formally trained or qualified. She does it because she loves it.”
