Franchisees roped into ‘rubbish’ advertising business
HERE’S Aaron Nickols – alias Aaron Nichols, Paul Jones and even Sarah Price.
ANGRY Jaimie Travers, who joined as a franchisee NAME GAME Aaron Nickols Aaron Nickols first came to my attention in 2009 when he was banned from working in the mortgage and insurance sector after his firm Warwick Finance tricked people into switching mortgage providers. In 2011, he was made bankrupt, owing around £1.6million. Last year, he was in court over a supposed device to help dissolve body fat. His UK Weight Loss Network bought the machines from China for £170 each and rented them out for £199 a month. Customer complaints led to his prosecution by Warwickshire Trading Standards. He admitted breaking consumer protection regulations by supplying goods not fit for purpose, not responding to complaints and not giving customers their cancellation rights. He also used a fake business address and hid behind the fake names Paul Jones and Sarah Price. He was given a nine-month suspended jail term, 150 hours of unpaid work and was ordered to pay £5,000 prosecution costs. In sentencing, the judge described him as a “snake oil salesman” and said the devices were “entirely a sham”. Amusingly, Nickols now says that I defamed him by calling him a conman.
