James’ oarsome studies

-

OLYMPIC rowing champ James Cracknell could help Cambridge take on Oxford in their next boat race.

The star has revealed that when he returned from shooting Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls he discovered he had been accepted on a postgraduate course in human evolution studies at Cambridge University.

Asked if he could join the next race against Oxford he said: “The average age of the crew last year was 22, I’ll be 47 by race time.

“Then the average height is 6ft 6in and I’m 6ft 3in. It is hugely appealing though, I can’t lie. So you never know! Maybe I should focus on my studies though.”

■ Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls starts Sunday at 9pm on Channel 4.
