Blisters don’t de-feet brave Corporal Jon
AN RAF corporal beat agonising blisters to run 214 miles across Scotland.
Jon Ward completed the GB Ultra Race within the 100-hour limit despite waiting with a collapsed runner for three-and-a-half hours until he was rescued.
After making it over the line near Edinburgh, Jon, 33, said: “Physically I’m broken but mentally I feel amazing and proud.
“I finished last but it was about completing it.”
The veteran of 100 marathons took 98 hours and 39 minutes to run from Portpatrick on Scotland’s west coast.
Jon, from Lossiemouth, added: “I was considering dropping out. I’m glad I didn’t. Grinding the pain out was worth it.”
Fewer than half the 135 participants finished.
