FAB: I WILL PLAY THE LONG GAME

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

BRAZILIAN star Fabinho insists there is “no panic” about his position at Anfield even though he has yet to start a game for his new club this term.

The £40million summer capture from Monaco (above) was one of the highest-profile Premier League signings of the summer.

But the 24-year-old is still to make his competitive debut for the club even though he has won back his place in the Brazil starting XI (he was selected to face the USA in New Jersey last night).

“There is no panic – it’s time to work and be patient,” said Fabinho, speaking in the US yesterday.

“It doesn’t disturb me that I have not played yet.

“My start at Liverpool has been about adapting. I am calm and patient because I know that the season is long, with many games. I have to be prepared for when I get my chance.”

Fabinho, who says he has been told by Jurgen Klopp (above) that he has a bright future at Anfield, believes the fact that he has regained his place in the national team after missing out on the World Cup underlines how big a club Liverpool is.

“I think signing for Liverpool has helped with Brazil,” he said. “Liverpool are a giant team, which helps keep me get closer to the international team.”
