GARETH CAN MAKE A MARC

SPAIN’S Marcos Alonso has urged England fans to keep faith with their team despite Saturday’s defeat.

The Chelsea defender (below) started the Wembley contest where the visitors dominated.

But asked if he could see an improvement in Gareth Southgate’s side, Alonso (right) replied: “Yes definitely, definitely.

“They are very good. They are quick and have lots of quality, young players.

“I think Gareth and his team are doing a great job. We saw in the World Cup how well they did. Saturday also was a very tough game for us.

“I think we deserved the win. We controlled the first half and played some good football. In the second half, it was a little bit tough. England are also a great team.”
