One Klich.. and O’Brien robbed

-

MARTIN O’NEILL blooded Aiden O’Brien – and saw the 24-year-old Millwall striker crown his debut with the Republic of Ireland’s goal.

And it would have been the winner too until Leeds playmaker Mateusz Klich popped up in the 87th minute with an equaliser on his recall to the Poland side after four years.

Sub Klich stole O’Brien’s thunder when he played a one-two on the edge of the box and clipped the ball past the exposed Darren Randolph.

Boss O’Neill has been under the cosh since last week’s 4-1 Nations League hammering in Wales.

And he had to spend much of the run-up to this friendly handling the fall-out from assistant Roy Keane’s X-rated rant at Harry Arter and Jonathan Walters,

But O’Neill could breathe again in Wroclaw after the Lions’ Londoner pounced in the 53rd minute. Bristol City winger Callum O’Dowda curled a cross to the near post for O’Brien to head past Wojciech Szczesny.
