Traffic warden stomped in ambush: I’m lucky to be alive

- BY LOUIE SMITH

A TRAFFIC warden feels “lucky to be alive” after a teenage gang kicked him to the ground and stamped on him.

Charlie Weston was ambushed in what police called a “shocking” attack.

The 21-year-old said: “I genuinely feel lucky to be alive – I didn’t think I was going to get back up.

“I’m quite big and can defend myself but there were too many and the first kick was to the throat. While they were stamping on me they kept trying to take my helmet off.” Footage of the sickening attack went viral at the weekend. Charlie, of Wolverhampton, spent four hours in hospital after the attack in Alum Rock, Birmingham, but managed to return to work the next day. Urging locals to name the thugs, Det Sgt Tom Lyons said: “The level of violence used is truly shocking.”
