RIO FEARS THAT JOSE STILL WON’T TRUST RASHFORD

- BY DARREN LEWIS

RIO FERDINAND fears Marcus Rashford is still not trusted by Jose Mourinho.

Ferdinand, a Champions League winner with Manchester United, says the young England striker needs a regular place in the United attack – and Mourinho’s faith.

The BT sport pundit said: “I look at it from Rashford’s point of view. If I am

sitting there as Marcus Rashford and someone says to me, ‘Do you think your manager believes in you as his main, best striker and that he will build his team around you?’ I would say, ‘No. Because I am not starting every game’.”

Rashford is back for United’s Champions League trip to Young Boys tomorrow and Mourinho launched a furious defence of the England striker’s appearance stats since he took over in 2016.

But Ferdinand says Mourinho bringing in Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez (above) dented Rashford’s confidence, adding: “I wouldn’t want to come on for 10 minutes every game. I want to walk out on that pitch as the starter.”
