Football star Anton’s web safety drive
FOOTBALLER Anton Ferdinand is backing a campaign to get online safety taught in schools.
The former West Ham star, now with St Mirren, has been abused online himself and is sponsoring his own London primary and his son’s for a year.
Anton, 33, said: “Having had months of online abuse myself, I know that even for someone who is thick-skinned and in the public eye, it is incredibly difficult to take.”
Charity eAWARE ran a survey of nearly 40,000 children aged seven to 16.
It found an average of one per primary school class has seen an online image of nudity or seminudity sent by an adult.
And one in 50 schoolchildren had sent a similar image to an adult.
