508 IS PLUGGED IN

Peugeot is readying two new petrol hybrid powertrains to fit to its 3008 SUV and to the newly launched 508 saloon and upcoming 508 estate. You’ll be reading a road test of the 508 next week – it’s a lovely car that’ll be further improved with a hybrid option.

The systems (plural because both a two-wheel drive and 4wd drive hybrid system will be available) feature a 300v lithium ion battery that will enable the cars to run up to 30 miles on electric power only. Charging will take less than two hours using a 6.6kWh wallbox. The new hybrid powertrains will be available this time next year.
