THE CAPTAIN

Digital and disc Monday This chilling Second World War drama is based on a true story which follows a German army deserter impersonating a Nazi captain with horrific consequences.

A smart exploration of the fear of being found out and the perils of being over-promoted, it’s a welcome return to form for director Robert Schwentke and can be considered as a huge apology for his time in Hollywood.

He swapped creativity for cash by working on 2013’s terrible cop caper R.I.P.D. and followed it with the last two films in the awful young adult Divergent series. Apology accepted.
