Footie coach gets life for teen murder

- BY JEREMY ARMSTRONG

A GIRLS’ football coach who bludgeoned a teenager to death over a £200 debt has been jailed for life.

Karen Tunmore was 21 when she battered 19-yearold Scott Pritchard with a baseball bat in 2004.

Tunmore kept her crime secret for 14 years, even as Scott’s dad Fred Stacey, now 66, was arrested and held in prison on suspicion of his son’s murder.

Charges were dropped after four months, but Mr Stacey endured a “living nightmare” as he was branded a killer.

As we reported yesterday, Tunmore, 36, of Killingworth, North Tyneside, finally confessed to the murder in July this year.

At Newcastle crown court, she was sentenced to life, with a minimum term of 17-and-half-years.
