‘Wild about my perfect picks’

-

THOMAS BJORN claimed his wildcards were the key to Europe’s victory.

While three American picks failed to win a point, Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson and Paul Casey all contributed on and off the course. The Great Dane (right) said: “The picks were the single most significant thing I did. They delivered. That was not down to me. It was down to them.”

PADRAIG HARRINGTON is favourite to be Europe’s next Ryder Cup captain in 2020 at Whistling Straits.

The three-time Major winner, now 47, was among the five vice-captains in France.

Rory McIlroy said: “I think you need a certain type of captain in the US and a certain type in Europe. Padraig would be a great captain in the US because of his playing record and because everyone over there likes him.”

Thomas Bjorn, who is part of a committee to pick the next skipper, added: “He’d be brilliant.’’
