Half of young eat­ing alone

NEARLY half of Brits aged 18 to 24 eat din­ner alone, a study found.

And 22% of those quizzed said they wolfed down food “on the go” rather than at the ta­ble.

But 78% felt that hav­ing meals with fam­ily was im­por­tant, the sur­vey by slow cooker mak­ers Crock-Pot found.

■ Sales of low-calo­rie frozen meals rose by 5.6% to £112.5mil­lion last year as health-con­scious peo­ple ditch junk food, said an­a­lysts Kan­tar World­panel.
